Second grade is an incredible journey of learning, growing and making new friends. Students will begin this journey from the first minute they step into their classroom. We will be discovering so many exciting topics in second grade. Some of those topics include bees, animal adaptations, habitats, interactions, immigration, communities and map skills, just to name a few. We will also have an adventure with Flat Stanley!
Second graders can become stronger by reading for 15 minutes at least 3 nights of the week. They can also write these books on the Reading Log (placed in the back of their take home folder) to reach the goal of 25 books read during the school year.
Students can also benefit from practicing math facts at home. To assist you, I have placed links on the My Resources page of this website. There are two fact practice websites that your child can use to practice and become more fluent at home.
I am so excited to be the person who will walk with your child on their journey through second grade! If you have any questions, please e-mail me at [email protected].
