Timeline for Juniors and Seniors

Spring/Summer of Junior Year- Visit colleges that you may be interested in.

When you go on a college visit, call ahead

to make an appointment. You will normally

go on a tour and meet an admissions

counselor for an interview. This interview

will focus mainly on what your goals and

objectives are and if the college is a good

match for you. To make an appointment for

a college visit, simply call the college’s

admissions office and request an interview

and a tour. You should never decide to

attend a college that you have not visited.

Take the SAT and ACT in the spring of your

junior year.

Fall of Senior Year- Retake the SAT and ACT to improve your

score.

Finalize the colleges you would like to apply

to. Check in the guidance office for those

applications. Most colleges have an on-line application option.

If we don’t have them, call the

college and ask them to mail you one.

Attend higher education night at JCC. Check with

the Guidance Office for date and time.

Begin to apply for scholarships like the Elks

Scholarship and attend the scholarship

workshop at the Elks Lodge in Lowville.

Complete and submit the FAFSA.

Apply for all scholarships you’re eligible

for.
